Do I own my camera system?
Yes. The cameras, recorder and hard drive are yours. There are no monthly fees and no cloud fees to watch your own footage.
Do you install wired or wireless cameras?
We specialize in hardwired cameras. A wired system has no batteries to change and no WiFi dropouts, so it keeps recording reliably year-round, including through Ontario winters.
How long is camera footage stored?
It depends on the number of cameras and the size of the hard drive in the recorder. A typical system keeps 10 to 20 days of footage, and a larger hard drive keeps it longer.
Can I see my cameras on my phone?
Yes. We set up the free DMSS app on your phone before we leave, so you can watch live or recorded video from anywhere. The Smart PSS app works on Windows and Mac computers.
Do the cameras work at night?
Yes. Our Dahua Starlight cameras record in colour at night, so you get clear, usable footage even in very low light.
How many cameras do I need?
It depends on your property's entrances, driveway, yard and blind spots. Most townhomes start with 4 cameras and most detached homes with 6. We'll recommend the right number during the free on-site visit.
Do my cameras keep recording if the internet goes down?
Yes. Footage is recorded on the hard drive inside your recorder at your home, so recording continues without internet. You only need internet to watch your cameras remotely on your phone.
Can I add more cameras later?
Yes, as long as your recorder has free channels. The 6-camera package uses an 8-channel recorder, so it has room for 2 more cameras without replacing anything.
Do you install cameras for businesses?
Yes. We install camera systems for retail stores, restaurants, offices and warehouses across the GTA. The 8-camera package is a common starting point for businesses.
Can you upgrade my existing camera system?
Yes. We upgrade older camera systems to 4K. Ask about it during your free assessment.
